Default '04 WRX rear disc removal

I need to replace the rear discs on my '04 WRX and am having trouble gettting the old ones off.

With the caliper removed, should they just come off on the same way as the fronts, or are there any retaining screws/bolts that i need to undo.

I've got the caliper off, but the disc is going nowhere!

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Andy

inside the rear disc are a set of shoes for the hand brake. dont pull the discs using a lot of force as you will bend bits for the handbrake mech. if you look behind the disc you should see a rubber plug/bung. if you pull this out the will be a little wheel inside with teeth that you can turn using a screw driver to release the shoes inside. i think im right with this but mines a classic.

Thanks for the advice above.

I've lossened off the adjusting screw, and the disc is moving, so the handbrake is definitely off.

Still the disc refuses to budge though.

ANother manual i've found on the t'interweb suggests that driving the disc off with 2 8mm bolts into the holes onn the disc face is the next step.

Does that make sense.

What i don't want to do is knacker the handbrake assembly.

As ever, all help/advice greatly appreciated(and needed).

Cheers,

Andy

if you tap the disc from behind , turn the disc then hit another area , and carry on it will come off , its probably just rusted on , as long as the handbrake is slackened off it wont get damaged , make sure you clean the hub thoroughly of rust ect before fitting the new discs

Alyn,

As ever, your advice was spot on.

I picked up a couple of M8 bolts on the way home from work and hey presto, the discs came off!

The car's now on the drive on axle stands, waiting for a delivery!

Thanks again for your advice, it's nice to know there are people out there who a) know what they're on about, and b) are willing to spend 5 mins chatting over a problem.

Thanks again,

Andy
