Question Quick Tyre Pressure Question?

What tyre pressure do you recommend for 225/45/17's ?

Pumped mine up to 36PSi as I was getting wear around the edges but the car understeers badly in the wet now.

Tyres are Eagle F1's.

Tire pressures are relative to the weight of the car, NOT the size of the wheels or tires. Whatever the recommendation in the manual is for the OE tire size is the same for ALL sizes. The only variance is for preferred handling characteristics or specific tire wear/grip nuances. At 36psi you will have a reduced contact patch giving less grip explaining the understeer. The tire walls will also be slightly more rigid leading to a quicker break loose as you won't feel as much movement near the limit.

I was running 30 all round on my classic
.......thought I'd try a little more pressure to get better mpg (well, you have to try) ...so lifted them to 34 all round

car was a NIGHTMARE!!! no traction, no sideways grip, nearly stuffed it a couple of times on teh first drive!!!

....running 30 all round again now

try running a few more psi in the front, the front of your car is heavier remember. Even my berlingo van says to run more in the front(unless loaded with gear of course).

Aaron

Just to add i run 35fr 31rr.
