My mate fitted them to his Renault Laguna (2 litre 8V ie modest power). When it rained he said the wheels would spin in 3rd and it was like driving on ice!! Since your tyres are your ONLY contact with the road I'd spend the extra few pounds and consider some decent rubber (or find a good panel beater!).

I've had the directional Nankang Sport tyres on my scoob in the past (280+brake) and found them fine - although they dont last long.A LOT of guys around here use them on scoobs, sti's etc.

There was a set on my car when I picked it up from the importers, but they must have been different to SUNDAY DRIVER's as mine had a stupidly high treadwear rating. (I think granite might have worn quicker )
After one hair-raising skiddy moment in the wet, I swopped them for some Goodyear F1's, which aren't that expensive.
I have relegated the Nankangs to trackdays, and they still don't seem to be wearing down....

If you're looking for a cheaper brand try the Falken FK451. Prices for 16" are around £59 each including carriage and vat and the grip levels are said to be as good as the Toyos.
Incidentally, the cheap F1's are beginning to dry up now as Goodyear have decided to "rationalise" their prices. If you see any about at silly money - grab 'em quick!
