18 x 8.5" wide rims / wheels on classics?
Hi,
I know this isn't the done thing and 7.5's are the safe option, but has anybody fitted larger to a classic scooby?
If so what tyres are you using?, whats the offset and did you have to modify the arches?
Would you stand a better chance if fitting 215/35 profile rubber and stretching slightly rather than going up to 225 or 235!?
Ant help or guidance would be appreciated
Cheers
Kev
PS I have coilovers so this should help with strut/spring seat clearance.

I run 235X45X17 on my RA. My rear arches are rolled otherwise they would rub. There are also some issues with offsets which need to be chosen carefully or you can end up rubbing the inside of the tyre on the coil overs. Adjustable camber top mounts can help with this. No idea if you would get away with such a wide 18 without going to a very low profile.

Just had a little measure up and its going to be very tight against the locking nuts of the coilovers! depending on how high/low I set the car and the arch's are looking like they'll def. need to be rolled.
I might ask around locally to see if any newage boys are running this width and offset and see if I can borrow them , otherwise I might just bite the bullet and see how it goes.....
I can't take rear passengers and being my weekend ride I could always just stiffen them up a little to prevent less suspension travel... watch this space i guess
cheers
