Default General opinion on Tyres

Posted regarding some new wheels for MY02 Sti Bug and looking at some rubber for these.

Heard good about the Toyo Prox's and also bad.

Car is for weekend use approx 500 miles a month. Would like to know peoples opinions on rubber and best place to get them.

Toyo's seen on camskill

ps. Looking at 18" wheels

Hi, I used the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD 3 before but now use the Eagle F1 Asymetric tyres. Can't fault them one bit. I get them from camskill, good price and 1st class delivery (ordered 2pm arrived 10am the next day!!!)

The Proxes T1Rs won't be the best dry weather tyre, but the chances of hitting the dry weather limit of any performance tyre on normal roads are probably pretty slim. The proxes really shine in the wet though, and certainly have much better performance than the standard potenza RE050. The view I took was that the chances of hitting the limit in the wet were much higher than hitting them in the dry, so I went for the Proxes. In normal rain, with no standing water, I don't have to change my driving style at all.

Another vote for the Goodyears and unsurprisingly Camskill, excellent price and service. Ordered on Friday evening on the 19th, delivered Monday morning the 22nd.

Agree with the comments on the Proxies - good dry tyre great wet weather tyre and fairly quiet and reasonable life.

I have had bridgestones (not sure which) they were nice tyres but bit slippy in the wet - I then bought a set of Kumho ecastas which were noisy and poor in the wet but cheap!!

You lads who order from Camskill, who do you get to fit them for you?

I've asked locally, and no-one wants to fit tyres they haven't sold, or they quote silly money like £25 PER WHEEL

Make friends with your local Kwik Fit tech, there's usually one that's clued up...

Then wink and point out that you don't need a receipt, and when he quotes a price bung a £5 on (at least !)

Will be back tmrw for a 3" de-cat on mine !

LOL

I bought the Falken FK452's from Camskill, they seem brilliant so far, proper bargain.

Got a mate who owns a garage so fitting not a problem, just need to make sure i time fitting with a visit to the parents (600 mile round trip)
