Default REAR PADS

Hi just been fitting new rear pads problem is that the pads wont fit into the caliper with the metal pad guides in place. can i leave these out?

i would not leave out the the guides, there must either be something wrong or too much paint on the pad edges.

Cheers might try fileing the pad edges down abit

Before you get the big rusty file out I'd sit down and try and work out whats wrong. Are the pads reputable and therefore of a std size? Are the calipers original? Are the discs OE spec? Have you pushed the pistons ALL the way in or is there muck etc on the top of them?

I've found out the hard way there is usually a good reason for everything.

cheers. the problem is getting the pads into the caliper they wont go in when the guides are in place but will without them

Make sure piston is fully in. Then try the pads and guides together and if that doesn't work something isn't quite right. Long time since I have done the rears but IIRC a bit of persistence may be required. I think the guides/shims are there to help reduce noise.

ps it mighn't do any harm not to have them in I'd just be worried something else isn't right
