Rear brake dust shield help?

Default Rear brake dust shield help?

Hi all,

went to fit my new rear brakes today got the old hoses and caliper and disc of fine went to put the new disc on and realized the dust shield was going to foul because of bigger discs

how do i remove the rear shield please

People drill the rivets off.
Should be something about it here:

Use a sharp, (pref new) 8mm high speed steel drill to drill out each rivet, then touch the spots and remaining back-plate up with black Smoothrite, (smooth Hammerite).

Are they rivets or spot welds? Sure on my MY04 car they were spot welds. Either way drill them out as said.

cheers guys went trauling through the search in the end and found out how to do it.

Mine were spot welds btw.

presumably your putting a larger rear disc conversion one??
easier is to simply trim the "return" lip of the backing plate and then its still mostly enclosed
