Default How wide can i go with blobeye wheels?

I'm looking for new wheels for my 2004 WRX. The standard rims with 215/45/17 don't fill the arches and look puny. I think i would prefer width rather than diameter so I am thinking about 8x17" with maybe 235/45/17 ??
Or am I better off going for 18's with a more common tyre size. I'd like to fit the RE070 tyres but I know they can be difficult to find. Which wheel size would give the optimum handling? Prodrives own marketing info suggests that you would benefit from fitting 18's after fitting the PPP to take advantage of the extra torque?? I don't really understand that when the rolling radius of the wheel doesn't really change. Can anybody help? Thanks

No they just sold expensive wheels to the wealthy.... and gained 10mm of width on the tyres, LOL

You have to consider the option of fitting larger brakes in the future, 8x17 with a suitable tyre is fine, but an 8x18 will allow bigger brakes to be added later.... Size is less important than weight for suspension issues, so a light-weight 17" wheel is better. Try a road legal slick for serious grip, or stick with a quality tyre or the whole up-grade is wasted.

imho

Cheers Dunx,

Good point about the brakes, 8x18 is probably the best way forward.
