Default budgets on a classic worry

had 4 potenza's on original rims.the two rears neaded replacing for the m.o.t being in the credit cruch and all that.plus on the back of my mind i might sell it.
i replaced them with budget tires,47 quid each.
the handling now has gone **** up.
is it due to the fronts being at about 1.6mm and the rears new or is it cuz i'm a tight ****.
thinking of cutting my losses and going back to better rubber
cheers

its true to say you always get what you pay for but on the other hand 1.6mm of good brand rubber will not match a new tyre (unless its a hot day and your on a track) hard call 2 new budget or 4 new quality tyres sorry cant be of more help

I've just changed similar mixed tyres on mine for 4 new Toyo's, and although the garage queried binning nearly new tyres, they were rubbish, and the sport contacts just legal.
The cars gone from twitchy and inconsistant, to balanced and predictable.
I think you know the answer, it just depends on if you can afford to do it. (Put it this way, you'll be pretty p1ssed if you bin it due to the tyres!)
Feel for you mate, who needs to spend money at the mo'--good luck!

i just cheaped out and fitted 4 triangle tyres to my p1 wrc rims.... ive had toyos for the past 10 years and this is the first ive strayed.

ive nearly binned it about 5 times in less than a month, plus i got a wheel damaged getting the tyres on.

with about 400 miles on them now they are grippier but i ceertainly dont trust em. ill be burning them off asap and buying toyos again.

the road noise is also insane, i keep thinking my wheel bearings have gone

Been running these for the last 4k and very impressed, better than Toyos. The car came with them fitted and was quite prepared to replace them.
