Weird grating noise from rear brakes when reversing.
It only happens when the car has been parked up for some time, and is INSTANTLY silenced by pulling the handbrake up to the first notch.
Ought I to be tightening something? Or is there a stone caught, or summat?

hi its prob the handbrake shoes inside the disc, take em off and clean the inside of the disc using 40 grit sand paper then brake clean the shoes and free of any seized pivots mainly where the cable arm pivots, put some copper grease on the pivots use only a tiny bit dont get it on the shoe material then adjust em up and refit all parts (oh dont forget to back the cable off first then adjust the shoes) if there is any play in the cable after take the adjuster up so the handbrake travel is about 3 to 4 clicks hope this helps just make sure they are adjusted same each side
