Default Changing rear brake discs & pads....help!

Bloke at the shop where I've just ordered my new discs & pads (front & rear) said that it was a bit tricky changing the rear ones & that I should let a garage do it as I've not done it before.

I'm determined to have a crack myself first anyway..... just wondered if anyone has a step-by-step guide or something like that???

(It's a MY00 Impreza turbo).

Nothing remotely hard about it, just remeber to let the handbrake off before you try and pull the disk off or you'll be there all day. Best to do it on a flat surface and chock the wheels too.

You'll find two bolt holes tapped into the rear disc's mounting face. I think the thread is M8. Screw a bolt into each until it bottoms. Then screw each one in a couple of turns at a time until it pulls the disc off. Job's a good'un.

DO remember to have the handbrake OFF, and spray the caliper mounting bolts with WD40 or similar about an hour before you want to take them off. Use a GOOD ring spanner or a socket to remove the bolts. I prefer 6 sided sockets if you can get one

Yes the bolt holes are M8. Make sure you use decent bolts and not one made of putty as breaking a bolt in the hole would be a pain. As you increase tension on the bolts tap the brake drum firmly with a big hammer to help release the rusting together.
