Question How tight are your nuts? I think I might need longer studs.

How tight are your nuts?

Hi guys,

What is a good / safe amount of complete turns when doing yer wheel nuts up ??

Also, anyone ever changed their wheels for some with a less positive but still positive offset, and where may I get longer wheel studs from please?

Cheers

Studs are M12x1.25 but I've no idea of standard length.

Consensus seems to be that they are 40mm, ordered 63mm ones from Merlin Motorsport

You'll also need open wheel nuts instead of the closed type or they might bottom out on those long studs.

Didn't even know that was an option for 'alloy wheel' type nuts, thanks. Although plan was to cut the studs down if need be.

22B kit mod some pictures have a bit of a write-up at the bottom

Hi, i fitted 63mm studs when i fitted front spacers.I only had 7 full turns,so right on the limit.I now have 23 turns! As i've fitted a whitheline arb and droplinks,i didn't want to take any risks.I got some open end lightweight nuts, which are longer,so the stud doesn't come out the end,and they look nice! I got the studs off ebay,£5 for a set of 4,or £1.95 each.

Geeza please point me in the direction of the nuts you got?

Already got the studs, 63mm from merlin motorsport. (Hope they sent the right ones)

Who changed your studs for you if you dont mind me asking, and what should i expect drama and cost wise when changing them?

Would like to see more of your car, do you have a thread on here about it?

I changed the studs myself,it was easy for me as i've no abs,so it was just a case of removing the wheel, and if you get the stud your taking out at the back of the hub,you can knock it out with a hammer,(it's better to take the disc off)then pull the new one in.There very tight,i pulled them in with an old wheel nut, with a stack of washers under it.
These are the nuts i got,i'll post a pic of them fitted later,at work at the mo.Nissan Subaru Red Ultra Light Racing Wheel Lug Nuts on eBay, also, Nuts, Car Wheels, Tyres Trims, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 08-Sep-08 01:00:33 BST)
