Default Advice please

I have some new front pads and discs waiting to be fitted.

However, I have this morning developed a rather nasty grinding noise when taking left hand corners. The grinding noise isnt dependant upon speed, its a constant grind.

Now, I thought this was most likely a wheel bearing, but a friend has suggested it could simply be the spring in the pad catching the disc when cornering?

Has anyone experienced this?

I've never had a wheel bearing go before, so i wouldnt recognise the sound. The reason I ask is I'll order a new wheel bearing and fit the lot in one go rather than having to take the wheel off twice, but obviously dont want to spend £££'s without any need.

I know it needs looking at but thought I'd ask on here if anyone has had the pads cause a grinding noise before?

Car in question is a MY98 Classic.

Any advice appreciated.

Default grinding noise

i would check the wear sensor on the pads first. while you have the car jacked up you could check the wheel bearings, usually on a uk car the nearside fails first due to drain's, potholes and road camber.
