Default What is required to upgrade from 2 to 4 pots??

As above,

I need new discs and pads all round and think it would be worth upgrading while I do it. Only thing is, I am not entirely sure of everything I require.

I have looked on a few other threads and gathered that I wil need a caliper seal kit, but what else is needed??

Cheers fellas,

Oh yeah, I already know larger discs and new pads before someone says it !!! LOL

Once you have the calipers, it's worth redoing the seals unless you are CERTAIN the calipers are OK. Saves ANOTHER job at a later date

If you replace the hoses for braided at the same time, you're looking at a couple of hours' work including bleeding.

Rears: depends what you are doing. Discs and pads only, maybe an hour.

Replace calipers and larger discs, maybe two hours

About 2 ish hours the hoses fit really easily, i've just got to tackle putting rear calipers on now.
as alcazar said you got to make sure the cailper seals are good (seal kits i think are only about £20-30)
And the bleed nipple goes should be on the top of the caliper when changing

OK, supplementary question:

I've got a JDM bugeye (more power, less brakes ), so I'm also interested in a 2 pot to 4 pot conversion. My 2 pots have ABS, so do I need to make sure that the 4 pots come from a car that also had ABS?

Yes, you will be able to source them from any scooby up to 2005, I think most WRX's came with the 4 pots with ABS (black calipers) so you should be fine, obviously you could go a step up and fit the Brembo's but you would need to check wheel clearance.

I don't have ABS but the fitment is the same more or less:

1. Bleed the calipers and take em off
2. Remove discs and replace them with new ones
2.1: If you have braided lines fit em
3. Fit new calipers + pads (make sure you fit the shims and copper grease to stop squeaking)
4. Fit the discs and calipers on
5. Pour new brake fluid through and bleed the lines (order I bled the brakes was: FR, RL, FL, RR)
6. Make sure the float in the brake fluid res is not stuck (only applies to DCCD cars)

Rear's pretty much the same, have to make sure you have reattached the rear bake shoes cable properly otherwise you will find you have no handbrake

I'm using 4 Pot Subaru brakes with Grooved Black Diamond discs, purchased from a fellow SN chap, I changed the pads for DS2500 and flushed the system with Dot 5.1 fluid, has made a big difference in braking performance.

You can use any of the Subaru 4 pot calipers , the black and red ones are the same bar a couple of small details.

I have a pair of calipers available if you want a complete kit , the calipers will be sprayed any colour you want , and will be built with stainless steel pistons that wont rust , along with new seals , grooved 294mm discs and kevlar pads , the kit is £350 plus £15 P&P.
I can also supply you grooved rears.
Cheers Ian

The ABS is built into the hub (toothed wheel) and upright (wheel speed sender). The brake caliper will not be affected by whether or not the car has ABS.
