Default brake line issues

A brake line split on me so replacing with braided goodridge hoses.

Banjo end came off no problem the other end is seized solid.

Tried a load of release fluid and a 10mm spanner first but no luck and it started to round of the edges, then had a go with a set of mole grips still no joy.

Any suggestions?

Try some heat around the joint first with a plumbers heat gun - not too much, just concentrate the heat around where the screw goes in, then use your mole grips and remember to turn the correct way!!

I had the same issue. It was suggested I get a brakeline spanner, it has two extra sides, and you slot the brake line in to get more grip.
I've not attempted it since I bought it though, but worth giving it a try. Was only a few quid from halfords.

Be very careful heating the brake lines, few people realise that brake fluid is MORE flamable than petrol!!!

BRAKE SPANNER is your answer mate, i was suprised how much of a difference they make. Depending on how siezed it is though, just keen an eye on the pipe when turing and see if that is turning too.

Your next option is to go to the next join along the brake pipe and try that one, if that one comes away, you can have a go at the other one off the car or get one made up (anywhere between £5 and £20 depending on length)

Good luck

cheers guys, had already tried with the brake spanner and it just wouldn't move. I have had success with the heating technique on other parts before but i remember from a fire warden training i did years ago the bloke saying how flammable brake fluid can be and didn't fancy turning my pride and joy into a fireball.

I'm going to put it into my local garage and I suspect they'll have to replace from the next join along.

Just another one of those five minute jobs on a car

Good luck with the next join along idea..... i think they're one piece from from to rear on the scoob, as the pipes run inside the car...!!! ie, not a five minute job!!!!

I stand to be corrected on the one piece idea though....!!
