ABS Warning Light...
I have a 2001 WRX and my ABS warning light is coming on, but not all the time, it seems to be only when on the motorway and if I go above 80 for any period of time. The light then comes on and will stay on until I stop the engine for a while, then when I start up again, the light is still on, but goes off after about a minute. The brakes seems fine. Has anyone seen this before or got any ideas?
I also get a clunking noise from the brake pedal at low speeds along with the pedal feeling like it's bouncing back against my foot, hard to describe, sorry. It's always been there and the brakes seem finem the Subaru dealer told me it was normal, just the ABS kicking in, but why would it avery low speeds?

It sounds very much like you have a wheel speed sensor which is faulty and giving the system an incorrect or inconsistent signal.
At steady high speeds it is not consistent with the others so it brings the light on.
At low speeds it is giving the system the impression that a wheel is about to lock which in turn triggers the abs into action which is the clunking & kickback you are experiencing.
Your ABS system should log a fault code in it's memory whenever the warning lamp is triggered, which can be read by the diagnostic equipment.

sorry another post, really on a mission to sort this fecking noise,
after spending hours on the net looking at abs faults from loadsa different forums, it seems that ABS activating at low speeds is mostly caused by cracked reluctor rings. so on that note, thats where my next checks are going to be, the rear reluctor rings, i have already checked the fronts they look ok.
you might wanna do the same.
ps i forgot to mention, to remove the abs sensors, you just need to turn steering to full lock. remove the 12mm bolt holding the sensor in place and then pull out the sensor, if you need to view the ring(reluctor) then remove the wheels. the other end of the sensor plugs into a grey 2 wire multiplug located in the engine bay half way down the suspension turrets.
