I have a fairly steep drive & my handbrake no longer holds the car on the drive.

How do I adjust it ?

Is it likely that I will need new H/B shoes ?

If you look at the back of the plate behind the rear discs, on the bottom there should be a rubber grommet (light be just a hole), behind that is knurled ****, which when would the right way (don't ask...) will adjust the handbrake..... the only way to know if you need new shoes is to remove the discs... which also isn't that difficult.....

if you look at the back of the hand brake in side the car . at the end of the cable is a 10 mm nut tighten this up that will do it ,

It will, but when you come to fit new discs, and you can't get the old ones off, will you remember that you did it that way, or would you try adjusting it behind the disc.....!

You should do as Ron says , you adjust the handbrake shoes through the back of the backplate , and take up any slack in the cables on the handbrake lever
