Default 4 pot piston trouble

looking for a bit of advice on this one

while i was checking the movement of the pistons on my '98 4 pots,i managed to push 2 of the pots too far out (doh!) and now they wont go back in.

anyone know if there is somthing i can do to get them in (dont want to use too much force)or do i need to remove and rebuild the caliper

thanks for any help

You may have to dismantle the seals around the piston hole to get a clearer view. Be carefuly not to rip anything. I've seen pics of someone refurbishing them which should illustrate how to dismantle them - I'll try and dig them out.

Here you go

Subaru 4 pot Rebuild w/pics - Brakes, Steering & Suspension - NASIOC

Subaru dealers sell the caliper service kits for about £25. May be worth doing them properly while you're at it.

oh, and you'll have introduced some air into the calipers, so you'll need to bleed them.
