Squeaky Front O/S Brake, Please Help!
Hiya...
I have a 2002 WRX Sportwagon and it has a very annoying and loud squeak coming from the front O/S wheel.
I have had a friend take the wheel off and clean the disc and pads of rust but he said they all looked ok. He also put on some copper lube....
This seemed to work for the first 20 miles but has now come back again really bad.
It only squeaks when you are coming to a stop, say the last 5mph or so but is so loud!!! It seems worse when the car has warmed up a little.
Can anyone help as it is making me sad (
Thanks
Laura

Check your pads, usually squeak when the wear indicator rubs against the disc (making the sound to let you know it's time to replace the pads).
If your friend applied copper slip grease that should get rid of the squeaking normally. Also check the pads are seated properly and the brakes have been bled properly as air in the system can cause issues when the piston(s) push against the pad (also does your brake pad have a metal shim that clips onto the surface, sitting between the piston and the brakepad?)

Hiya... Thanks for coming back to me so quickly!
He checked the pads and said they still had a few thousand miles on them.
I am not sure about the clip i will have to ask him.
Someone suggested it may be the calipers is this likely?

I know it sounds daft, but also check the rears. I chased a OSF squeak for weeks , and it went away when I cleaned and regreased the rears...
