Question tyre pressure

got 17" wheels on my 95 legacy gt estate,what would the best tyre pressure cos on the side wall it says max 51 psi which seems way to high. tyres are 215/45 x 17
please help

MAX 51 psi !
I would think around 32-35 psi at a guess !
Unless heavily loaded and/or towing.

MAX pressure marking is exactly that, its the most the tyre is designed to withstand, however this is totally different to a 'working' pressure.............

as above somewhere around the 30-35psi mark
