Default 04 Sti handbrake

If I wash my pride and joy and put in garage, the next day they are locked on but drop off as I move. I've just been away 3 weeks and had to drive out of garage with brakes locked on, bit smokey and smelly believe me, one released and the other dropped off when I popped it in reverse.

Any way to prevent this happening, don't say not to wash please

Fair comment, but intellistart fitted so really have to be able to use handbrake. Should have done it over long period though

Take it for a spin (and use the brakes!), you should generate enough heat to disperse any moisture on the pads & disks.

If the handbrake shoes are wet they won't get much heat from normal disc braking. Only answer then is to use the handbrake a bit with car on move. Have to say I'm uncomfortable with doing this. To avoid this problem I only wash my car before going on a decent trip, say 25 miles or so, and never just wash and return to garage. If I know its a bit wet then I do leave handbrake off.
