Motor Factor brake pads?

Motor Factor brake pads?
I'm after new front pads for a 2002 WRX. I was going to go for a fast road pad (Red stuff/DS2500/etc) as the cost of these is similar to what the dealer wants for OEM pads. However, the local motor factor will do me a set of Mintex pads for £29. I know these will just be standard (ie not fast road) pads, but will these be comparable to the OEM pads? Would I notice much difference in performance between these and a fast road pad. The car gets some spirited road use, but never gets put on a track.

Mintex are a well respected brake pad manufacturer. £29 ones will be similar performance to standard Subaru ones. I replaced my OE ones for Blueprint ones when I sold it. They were fine for normal road use. Bob

mine was in for its first MOT and needed new pads, I want to uprate discs and pads so didnt want to pay nearly £100 from Subaru to replace in a few weeks.. I nipped out and got some Ferodo Premier pads.. £39 and thought.. at that price il take a risk.
Basically.. if you drive around like your gran cheap pads are fine (not good pedal feel tho)... but the other day I gave it a blast round some lanes... they are rubbish! first hard braking they dont work, 2nd time with some heat in they are better but after a few times they stink and dont perform!
Im looking at changing them soon... what also made me realise how bad they are is i drove my mums TT the other day and nearly went through the window!
So i would say get the ds2500's ... better than OEM and what il be getting next, the cheap mintex may of course be a different story to mine!
