Default Classic std brakes

Hi all!
I'll be picking up my MY98 Uk turbo at the weekend and just had a quick Q...
Are the standard brakes just plain discs or not?

Yes, as standard they would have been smooth discs, one point of note is that the 98's have 2 pot calipers on the front, they are well known for not being that good, just be aware of that when you drive it, an easy upgrade is to the later 4 pots....

Well thats good news... The one I've bought has 4 pots on the front and drilled and grooved discs all round! It also has STI on the tailpipe. Were these all standard upgrades from Subaru?

No, it looks as if a previous owner has upgraded the brakes for you, which is a good start on that model BEFORE you look for extra power.

The tailpipe too wasn't an upgrade, the only upgrade being from Prodrive, which would say "Prodrive" on the backbox.

Does your car still have the standard wheels, or are they upgraded too? Standard were 16" with IIRC 205/50 16" tyres.

It does yeah. The 4 pots have Subaru on them, so unsure of the origin.
Thanks for the info, wonder where the exhaust is from then...

Your 4-pots are off a 99-onwards car, the backbox probably off an import
