Default Prodrive Discs needed

I have searched the forum and the net for Prodrive Discs and all I can find is the brake kit (whole) for 1500 quid.

I only need the discs and pads for the front as the pads are almost out and the discs almost flat!!!

Just wondered if I need to go to a dealer or would any other disc/pad combo fit?

Any help greatly appreciated as I am at a loss now

Thanks

Dave

Try searching for alcon, they make the prodrive kit. You will be pleased to hear that there are a number of alternatives for considerably less than £1500.

I can supply you our 2 piece discs and bells that are a direct fit , they are £395 a pair , and when these wear down you only buy the outer part as you re-use the bells , the outer parts are £295 a pair including a set of nuts and bolts , P&P is £10
I can also supply you a set of Ferodo DS2500's which is the pad that was supplied with the kit new for £115 a set.

Cheers Ian

when the discs wear down you only need to replace the outer part making it cheaper and i'm sure there'll be a tech bit about the outer can then be made lighter thus reducing the unsprung mass or somesuch. Similar principal to lightened flywheels. less weight, less effort to turn etc.

A couple of reasons , one is that it is a universal discs that can be fitted to any car with the correct bell ,
Also as the bell is alluminium it will dissapate heat quicker than a all steel/iron disc , so the discs will run cooler , and you dont get as much heat into the bearings and hubs.
Also as the bells and discs are bolted , it will allow a small amount of movement between the discs and bells , so as the discs heat up and cool down , and expand and contract the wont distort and go out of shape like a one disc can , so are much harder to warp

Another is that the overall weight of the discs are lighter than an all steel/iron disc of the same size

Oh and they look a lot nicer

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian, i don't want to hijack this thread but could you give us some info on the weight comparison please.

I'd be interested and hopefully the thread starter also would be on the weight of the standard disk \ calipers versus your stuff and that of Prodrive.

I know from experience that fitting disk\calipers that are more hefty than the originals can have a nasty effect on the damping, however i find the standard brakes on my 05 STi horribly ineffective, i want to change but would only change to something of equal or less mass.

Thanks.

Matt,

On my bathroom scales standard STi 330mm Brembo 1 piece disc is 10kg, My AP 330mm discs on bells are 8kg (AP 5570 calipers lighter as well but never weighed them). Its enough to notice the improvement in suspension control.

P1 NUT,
Ian has posted an offer so if you want to run a group buy you should open a thread in the GB section to check numbers.

Ian,
What price would you charge for 1155 pads and to refurb the calipers.

Thanks,
Paul.
