I have ordered some Ksport 8 pot 330mm brakes for the front of my 02WRX which will be running about 450BHP.

The car will 90% be used as a fast road car, with maybe an occasional track day here and there.

Will I see any benefit getting a kit for the rear or is it overkill(if there is such a thing for brakes)?

I would uprate the rear pads and try that first Cookie. That is the basic advice i have had. I only have approx. 340 bhp and StopTech fronts, oem rears and i am now thinking of trying that. Sometimes if i do use my brakes 'properly' i feel the rear is trying to overtake the front. Sounds severe but you can feel it, i dunno, squirm or someat, its hard to explain.
Match your pad compound Cookie front to rear and give it a go.

depends on what your using the car for & how 'hard' ??

general experience is that most of the impreza's and under-braked on the rear even as std so you will normally need to do something - even if its putting a better/matching rear pad as recomended above

Just adding DS2500 rear pads to match my fronts improved the braking on mine.... and the std pads weren't worn out either.

I agree with dunx, or i will do later this year. I have asked Alyn this question before over the past year and always ignored his simple advice. But when I will be phoning you this week Alyn for a quote for them StopTech front discs and DS2500 front and oem sized DS2500 rear pads. Also want to pick your brains on what may be done to refurb my 'missing paint' caliper! lol.

Experience with my own car. I've upgraded and there is no discernable difference, OE 98 Scoob single sliding to STi Brembo two pot and larger discs.

They DO look better under the wheels though

I never used to think that it was worth doing anything to uprate the rears, however, when i fitted matched pads to what the front had, i found that suddenly that the car braked 'flatter' ie, the rear brakes were effectivelty pulling the back of the car down as i braked... not letting it dive as much....

I've never looked back, and will always match front to rear from now on!!

I put performance friction pads onto my standard rears (356mm K sport with DS2500 on the front). I don't notice anything on the road as they never get hot enough but on the track I can feel them doing some excellent work. This has to be the most VFM way forwards.
