Excessive play in brake disc
After my car's steering feeling a bit dodgy and deciding it must be the geometry etc i thought i'd take all the wheels off and have a good look around to make sure it wasn't anything obvious.
Everything seemed ok but my N/S front brake disc could be moved off the hub by hand..not more than say 1 or 2mm but enough to make me think it wasn't right. All the other discs were rock solid. Is there a certain way of putting them on? Ie leave a tiny bit of play in them? Sounds daft but i've heard it somwere before.
Thanks

The disc isn't attached to the hub other than by the wheel nuts.
If you've taken the wheel off then only the pads in the caliper or corrosion between the disc and hub are holding it on.
Barking up the wrong tree with this one mate.
