Unhappy

Went to reverse the car out of the drive this morning and it was as though the handbrake was on - but only affecting one rear wheel?

The car hasn't been driven for nearly a week and was washed just after the last drive.

Could the salt / corrosion build up be sticking the pad to the disk or have there been any incidences of the piston sticking?

I daren't give any more welly to move it just in case.

Help appreciated! Cheers guys.

Same thing happens to me after a wash!

I gave it a good wash the other day and the rears were stuck on when I tried to move. Took a fair bit of effort to move it this time! The brakes felt weaker for while, but this might have been because of layer of rust etc.

All seems fine now, however would advise to go for short drive after washing to wipe water off the brakes a bit.

Dave.

If you find out what this is I'd be very grateful if you'd mail me, as I have the same problem on my P1.

Cheers

Jonty it is possibly the handbrake shoes bonding themselves into the drum within the rear disc's. I am sure that my WRX handbrake
has the same problem. It will not be the pads I am sure,so no real
saftey problems I hope!!

Roger

That is probably the most likely explanation. I am having it fixed tomorrow lunchtime by the SAAB guys that are rather conveniently located near the car!

I'll post the findings tomorrow.

Just had SAAB fix the problem and it was exactly as Roger explained. No real trouble, but the caliper, disk and pad had to be removed. Obviously caused by lack of use. I'll have to remedy that!
