Default Brake fluid

I am thinking of changing my brake fluid to dot 5.1 which I've been recommended. My brakes feel fine with normal driving but get them hot and I seem to get some brake fade after a couple of minutes and they are fairly new Ferodo DS2500 with Tarox grooved disks.

Has any one els changed to 5.1 and if so what benefits did you feel?
Is there any particular good brand or is it a 'pick any off the shelf from Halfords job?'

Cheers

For normal steady driving my brakes work fine, but if I'm on say, a winding road which requires frequent braking which gets them hot then they start to bite well as they heat up, but this only lasts for literally a few minutes before they seem to over heat or something because when I brake again there is no depth and very little braking ability, the pedal feels hard and doesnt go down very far. I find it strange that they should be doing this because I never had this issue with the old standard Subaru disks and pads so why with uprated Tarox Grooved disks and Ferodo pads this should be happening is beyond me which is why I thought changing the brake fluid might be worth a try.

sounds like material fade, if it was the fluid then you would be getting a soft long pedal.................

are your calipers free, pads/discs bedded in??
