right, ive managed to jack my car up and painted the rear calipers, have gone to do the fronts but when jacking the car up the jack goes up as high as it will go but the front tyre still doesnt leave the ground.

please put this idiot out of his misery and tell me what im doing wrong

Put a couple of wood blocks under the jack?
(this is not meant to be sarcastic but thats how i would get around the 'challenge' in the in adsence of a trolly jack or bottle jack).

Hope you are using an axle stand(s) and chocking the wheels on the ground as well
