Hi.

Due to this stupid weather I bashed one of my rear wheels against the kerb. It was at slow speed but has scrubbed the rim.

Whill this have damaded anything else on the drivetrain, or just the wheel, and is there anything I can do to make the wheel better. The scuff is on the rim edge, and has shaved the rounded edge off for about 1 quarter of the wheel

Depends how *slow*. Damper rods will bend at less than 30mph in a kerbing.....if only walking pace or so then probably no other damage other than the wheel.

Unhappy

Had the same problem last year. The rear wheel was buckled beyond repair, so i got a secondhand one from someone in the trade. Also, required wheel alignment as the steering was crooked.

This was all sorted out eventually, and the car's back to full health, except, there is a slight vibration at 105mph+, but the dealer gave it a clean bill of health, so i'm not worrying about it.

Get your dealer to check it out- may need full wheel allignment + tracking- at least. Short- term & relatively small costs for longer term possible benefits.

Hi nuclear_pond

I agree with Bexlee. Get a dealer to check over the geometry. I did this late last year and knocked the geometry out a little.

As for the wheels, you can send them to a company called "Spit & Polish"

www.spitandpolish.co.uk

They did an outstanding job in fixing my wheels. There's no way of telling that they've been kerbed.

Cheers

Gazza
