Just knocking off my last little job before the summer.
Have fitted the Goodridge hoses today and was intending to refurb my calipers and fit the new seal kit i've bought.

Anyway, on the passenger side I have two problems

1st - the inner lower piston is seized solid in place and will not budge, the outer lower one just moves when you give it some grief.
2nd - the upper caliper mounting bolt (17mm) is rounded off.

Can you get new pistons for the calipers on their own and does anyone have any recommendations for getting a bolt that size off without damaging the thread in the caliper?
I intend split the caliper and drill the bolt out from the outer side as access to the bolt head is poor but anyone with a better idea?

Never easy is it? Hoses took about an hour - spent about the same just trying to budge one bolt on the caliper

i'm in kinda the same boat,have a sticky pot but was looking for somewhere that re-furbs them professionally?????

You would be better off cutting or grinding the head of the bolt off , you would still have to split the caliper , but you dont run the risk off damaging the threads in the calipers as you may if you try drilling it out , if you can take the head off , the bolt will pull through the hole then , and you can get hold of the left over bolt in a vice and spin it off.

I know Godspeed do stainless steel pistons for about £15 each , they can also offer reconned calipers

Godspeed got back to me today - pistons are £10 a piece (Subaru are £25 each).
Exchange refurbed calipers are £175 a pair.
Good value and i'll probably go the exchange route myself once I manage to free off that stubborn bolt.
