Question

as you know i had some 17's the other week with a 215 tyre.
now under heavy cornering or with a load in the back (even speed bumps are a problem, having to take them v slowly)
these tyres only slightly 'Chafe' on the black rubber rear wheel arch trim that sits around the wheel arch of the MY97-00!!
its not damaging the tyres but makes a hiddious noise!

anyone else had this problem???

how is it resolved with out putting a hammer to the wheel arch and making them 'Flared'??? lol

Hi Phil,

probably not the best answer but mine had the same problem when cornering hard when I first put on 17's, although speed bumps weren't a problem. Maybe you have the wrong offset?

Anyway, presuming you have the right offset just ignore it - I did and eventually the plastic on the inner arch wore away enough to stop the rubbing. A few miles of somewhere like Donnington or Milton Keynes should do the trick!

Zak.

Question

Phil, it's not S03s youve got on is it?

I never had any rubbing with the Toyos, but with the S03s on the car I do have some rubbing, was quite persistent when first fitted, but has died away, so only happens now when the suspension is fully depressed.

Hi Phil
Brought the same wheels as you from T.S.L
Not had any problems with rubbing
What tyres do you have on them?
I had Eagle F1s fitted handles like a dream.

went for the Faulkner's £65 each corner (or there abouts) kept the cost down you see, still handles well though.

i'm going to see if they are better when i get the Eibachs fitted in the next few weeks.

it's going to be so annoying if they rub all the time, even under load!!! i don't like the thought of stuff rubbin!
