V10 Sti - 18x8.5 Emotion CR Kai's with Dunlop SP Sport maxx 225/40/18??
Hi everyone.
I've ordered some Work Emotion CR Kai's in 18x8.5 with a +43 offset for my 05 JDM Sti (version 10)
Now from what the Work Japan website says, 235's may rub slightly under hard cornering? Does anyone know if this is true?
I will either get 235/40/18's or 225/40/18's for these rims. At the moment I'm leaning towards the 225's because I really don't want to have to roll the guards, and I don't want rubbing. There is also that I think slightly stretched tyres look a lot better than bulgy ones.
Also the car is stock height but I will be lowering it in the near future, so the 235's may be too fat then as well?
From a tyre calculator a 225's circumference is about 0.9% under and a 235 is about 0.3% over. Is it better to go slightly small so your speedo doesn't read over?
Of course the flipside is that the stock Bridgestone RE070's are 235/45/17, so will going to a thinner tyre give the car less grip?
Has anyone got any recommendations for tyre size?

I run the Prodrive GC-05Fs on my car, and the car is lowered. I use 235/40/18s and have no problems with rubbing. I am not certain what the offset is, but I believe it is 46.

That's interesting as I'm about to do the exactly the same thing for an 05 STi !
Are these what you are getting, if so where from if you don't mind me asking?
Have exactly the same questions, tyres, currently stock springs but going to Prodrives etc etc...
Cheers.

So XRS your 235's are ok? I guess theres a slightly different offset, but hopefully it's not too big a deal. I have heard of a guy with emotions running 255's and they definitely rub.
Hi Chris, yeah thats pretty much it except I'm getting the Gun metal grey colour. Top left in this pic:

I'm pretty sure you will want the size I've quoted above (apparently the 18x7.5 will fit but why go narrower than stock?). I am in New Zealand and I'm actually getting them through a friend in Japan (literally half the list price over here) so that may not help you much.
