Default 01 WRX Disk size?

Local garage was getting prices for me - but reckon they come in two sizes - 294mm and 289mm.

Can anyone confirm what size I would need?

MY01 WRX wagon.

Can't believe its going to cost getting on 500 quid (pads&disks allround)- jeesusH!

£500 all round isn't bad if they're using decent discs/pads.
IE Front on the WRX are £200 ish for disks/£100 ish for pads for a decent brand.

I think they were all quoting for oe subaru parts.

Rang selectatyre and they quoted 185+vat for fronts, 145+vat rears (disks and pads) ~387 all in ...

Would anyone trust a 'quickfit' type place to fit or would you go to a subaru specialist?

yes and yes

I have changed loads of brakes in my car, but like you say if your concerend then best pay someone to do it.

It really shoudnt cost that much in a garage for fitting anyway.

We have never had a set of discs returned to us which are cracked.
We have sold many sets of discs for Subaru drivers many of whom have been impressed.

Your warranty is with the supplier you purchased the goods from not the manufacturer.

i can send you a pair back with cracks all over, could have sent you two pairs back if i hadn't chucked the first set out,I'm not normally the person to moan about bad choice's i've made but after wasting over £500 on discs and pads over 18 months i'd never touch ebc discs again, would maybe touch redstuff pads as they tend to work ok and give off little brake dust, finally gone for a godspeed upgrade even though i don't track the car, wish i'd gone for them in the first place so £500 wouldn't have been wasted.

EBC Brakes Direct is an independant supplier of EBC Brakes. We are not EBC Brakes.

Mark6 what did the supplier you bought them from say?

First time they cracked he asked me to send them back so i paid for another set as i would have had a car with no disc's.When i got them off the inside off the disc looked a bit dull,i rang him up to explain as i didn't want to waste postage sending them back only to be told it was a caliper fault as he suggested and i agreed it could be seized pistons.

The only problem was the piston's were moving freely so i decided to change fluid, bleed brakes but the next set did exactly the same, after 6 months started vibrating again, inspected disc's and cracked around the holes again.

I contacted supplier again and he said it must be heat related sticking piston's,didn't want to waste paying for another set as i was suspect by now so decided to go for other brakes and strip caliper's.

I have now gone for godspeed setup and decided to inspect pistons and replace seals and dust covers and the piston's were immaculate and no cut's in dust cover's,so why the disc's cracked in my opinion is poor disc's as if the piston's were sticking there must be contamination behind the dust seal's and there wasn't.

What's your personal opinion on this??
