Hi ther
Yep, the std pads shed dust like no others. The dust does stick like poo to a blanket!
I now have EBC Greenstuff pads, they create about 10% of the dust the std ones do. I am not sure about other makes/types.
IMHO
Take care if you change pad types, they may wear out the disks prematurely. The standard disks are not that good/strong. I got through two sets (on std pads) in 38K miles, no track days!, one set warped, the other set just worn out. Changed under warranty.

Hi all,
I spent the whole day yesterday scrubbing my standard impreza alloys. The brake dust was unreal. Is there anyway of stopping this thing. I drove the car then yesterday evening and the wheels were getting dusty again. Do i need to do something bout the brakes to avoid this.

Stodwyer?
Try waxing the wheels as that helps get the brake dust off too. Harder pads release less dust as per the post re EBC pads etc. Buy a power washer? Buy anthracite wheels which will disguise the dust for longer. Oh, use the gearbox more when braking.
I've tried all these and the best thing is to wash them as often as possible!
