fitting ap racing kit
ok, i've managed to remove the old calipers and discs, no problems. my next move is going to be to get the wheel hub etc. all cleaned up and ready for the new kit, no dificulties there.
looking at the new kit (all shiny and lovely) one question springs to mind... how do the spacers line up? i tried holding one at various different angles but none of them realy looked "right". any ideas?

Just done....
You should have 4 * 2.75mm spacers (Look like thick washers) and 12 * 0.5mm shims (look like thin washers!!!!!)
Fit the bracket mounting bolt through the lugs on the upright, then fit one spacer and three shims. Same top and bottom. Fit the mounting brackets and fit the caliper. Check disks alignment with regard to centre of caliper (may need to adjust 0.5mm shims).
Off you go, job done!!!!!!
AP Racing have added an exploded view of the AP kit to their website (apracing.co.uk)

I'm interested in this - thinking about fitting my own 17" AP kit rather than pay £60 and drive 250 miles..so..
..what do you use to measure how central the disc is between the caliper - and what reference point on the caliper do you use?
..is the kit so well made and the existing machining on the car so accurate that you never have to have a different number of shims on the top and bottom?

Martin,
The 0.5mm shims are used to take out any variance in the strut mounts / wheel bearing etc. This from AP direct.
The disks must be square in the caliper body and no more than 1mm of centre. Ruler on back of caliper at top and bottom to check.

disaster!
almost there, only to discover a lack of caliper mounting bolts in the kit! phoned Graham Goode Racing (where i bought the kit from) this morning and they'll get them in the post by this afternoon.
e.t.a. maybe tomorrow - here's hoping, i want to get out there and test them, can't wait!!
