URGENT: installing 2 pot rear brakes on STI IV
#1
Guys,
Need your help on this one. I recently purchased a used set of STI 2 pot rear brakes to install on the rear of my STI IV. After installation, I reckon the people have mixed up the left and right side calipers (i can tell from the markings on the caliper). However, if the calipers are installed corresponding to their L & R side markings, the bleed valve will end up being on the lower portion of the caliper. From my (limited) understanding of bleeding brakes, shouldn't the bleed valve always be on the "upper" or top portion of the caliper?
I'm confused - need your help urgently.
TIA
Jon

Hi Jon
The L and R markings are generally as you would picture them, sitting in the car.
You are correct, the bleed nipples must be at the top.

Thanks Pete,
What you say is very clear.. What are the chances that the factory markings are wrong?? If the calipers I have are installed according to the factory L & R markings, then the bleed nipple would be in the lower portion of the caliper; you can't reinstall the bleed nipple, can you?
