Default Brake Pads for Rear

I am looking to replace the rear brake pads and disc on my 98 Classic, the existing ones are almost shot, the problem i have is that the discs have not worn out but the pad swept area seems to be getting thinner and then the discs are rusting which is wearing the pad away rather than the pad polishing the rotor surface. Anyone know of a reasonable pad that is abrasive enough to clean the disc surface, this is the second set of rear rotors that i have done this on.

sounds likely your rear calipers are partially seized causing the problem.................

Hi Alyn,

Thank 's for the reply, why would a siezed caliper cause this surely the seized caliper would keep the rotor clean?

because it will only keep the pad in contact whne it initially seizes as the pad material is worn away it can't move the pad any closer to the disc hence the lack of 'wear'...............
