Question Pad Replacement and Copper Grease

Hi,

Just a quick question:

When fitting new front brake pads (to STI 2003) I see that people suggest using copper grease and the existing shims.

The pad assembly will be:
Pad, Shim, Calliper

So does the copper grease just go on the back of the Pad (between pad and shim) or just on the back of the shim (between shim and calliper) or on both - so it would be:

1. Pad, Grease, Shim, Calliper
or
2. Pad, Grease, Shim, Grease, Calliper
or
3. Pad, Shim, Grease, Calliper

Thanks for any help

Option 2 for me also ... helps reduce any excess pad rattle/chatter.

2. Plus a little on the sliders/guides.

Don't need much, unless you want to extend you pad/disc life

The copper grease goes where there is metal to metal contact, e.g. on the edges of the pads where they sit in the caliper and where the pistons meet the pad back.

Thanks guys for your quick replies.

I will go option 2 then ... :-)

or I could just put the grease all over the pads and disks - that way they will last for ages .... might become a small issue when I come to the first braking area ... but hey ... hee hee

Again thanks.
