Default toyo or bridgestones?

its really been one of those days today, took the scooby in for a service, came back with a service, brake pads all round, front brake discs and ill be needing 3 new tyres. All in all an expensive day.

ive been looking at upgrading my standard 16s to 17s (obvoisly with new alloys)

after speaking to E-tyres they said toyo are better performance wise but because they are a softer tyre they wear quicker then the bridgestones im used to.

So my question is, how much quicker do they wear compared to bridgestones???

4/5k miles - you must be joking! That's terrible. At that rate they can't be cheap enough. That's what you get from £15 remoulds.

This sounds like a very good recommendation for Bridgestones.
My Re040's were bought half worn (off another Scooby), have done a further 10000 miles and three trackdays and are now on the limit.

I don't think I'll buy Toyo's.

Howard

PS I used to run Yoko - but no one talks of them on here. Is it cost or suitability?

I have had Toyo's on my last 3 cars and i think they are excellent.

They seem to wear well, they certainly are grippy, and i don't think the cost is too bad either.

Just be careful when you order them as there are T1R's and T1S's.The T1S is the older version,so it is definately the T1R's you want to go for...............a lot of package's that make a big deal of the tyres being Toyo's are the S's.

I have done close to 20k on Toyo's on various cars and think they are great, and when i just put the new package on my Classic i was considering all makes and brands and the Toyo's were what was recommended.

Done ~10k on T1-R's and just rotated them as fronts are getting to ~50%. I would expect to get +20k no problem. This is mixed bag driving, part with 280bhp and now 340+ on a lardy newage..!

Grip wise very good, although the first 2-300 miles when new can be 'interesting'..!

Very true. Just put a full set (T1-R) on and the fun I had for the first few miles was great! It's the first time I've had the Scoob sideways without having to use lift-off oversteer!

Never noticed it as much on the T1-S's though.

BTW, now they're scrubbed in the grip levels are at least as good as the T1-S's.

Default Still like my Yokohamas !!!

Had T1S and Yoko's since wearing out my concrete Bridgestones.... (~300 Bhp V7 STI Type UK)

Lots of grip from Yokos(AVS), but seem to last longer than the Toyos IMHO

Heavy cornering antics, but do low miles !! so I don't mind how long thay last if they grip O.K. Both good in the wet, I like them both but will stick with my Yoko's next time as the car is set-up to oversteer, a bit too much !!!!

Still tempted by trackday specials like Toyo 888 (?) and Yoko A046 (?) but works out a bit more expensive !! So long as you don't buy cheap crap you will get the grip, how much is down to cost....

I've had both and can honestly say the new Toyo T1 R is the best allround tyre far better in the wet (The next 6 months) , less road noise , and they wear very well !!
