Default godspeed 335mm - anti rattle shims

Hi guys,

when you fit the godspeed kit, do you retain the shims that sit between the standard pads and the pistons, or do you just plonk the pads in the caliper without anything between the piston and the pad?

I've fitted mine with the shims, but I'm just concerned that my alloys are still getting hot (due to the pad resting on the disc, presumably) after driving about 50 miles

Thanks

I never use the shims, just a light smear of Coppaslip does the trick for me...

My ST2's get hot after a good run. I would imagine that shims would only make things worse from a heat point of view as there is very little space for them with this kit. The brakes are probably binding and causing the heat.

Its a good thing that the heat is getting to the wheel tho, as its a massive heat sink and is helping to cool the discs and stop the hub getting too hot.

I modified my pads after receiving them from Ian. I filled the holes in with chemical metal and then redrilled. I made some longer pins, 6mm in dia, and this stoped all of the rattling that I was getting from the pads. It has the side effect of allowing the pads slide easier in the calliper which may help you.
