look at these...good deal?
£33.00
i am needing to change all my tyres and have found this deal
RTecShop.com - 205/40/R17 ZR BCT Tyres
my tyres are 205/45/17 and the ones on offer are 205/40/17, what part of the tyre is 40 or 45? can these go on my car and what difference will the size change make?
thanks ;thumb:

Wow - That is cheap! I've just ordered 4x 215/40/17's for £176 and thought I got a good deal...!
The 40 number is the profile of the tyre - ie. The height of the tyre from the wheel.... the bit you see if you look at your car side on. Have a look at this tyre calculator and you can see the difference sizes etc make.

Just incase you did not know, the 40 is the profile as mentioned in the post above, but it is 40% of the tyre width ie 40% of 205 in this case and so the 45 profile is 45% of 205 making the 45 profile have a slightly bigger rolling circumference than the 40 and ultimately there is a small affect on your speedo reading/accuracy. Thats why for speedo accuracy (as its close to the designed rolling circumference for a classic) most people go from the standard 205/45/17 to the 215/40/17. Hope that makes sense and is not teaching anyone to suck eggs
