Excessive Pedal Movement

Excessive Pedal Movement
Morning
For some insane reason I am about to buy a Maerati Ghibli Cup, with the famed reliability of a TVR, although they do not appear to be as bad as people think.
I have driven a couple and they all have excessive movement on the brake pedal. It moves about half way and then starts to bite, once engaged the brakes work well - I am going to guess at Maserati Badged Brembo Calipers.
How can you reduce the movement ?
Different linkages or Master Cylinder ? - It is not the end of the but an instant bite would be preferable.
They do suffer from some front end knocks as people do not realise that the pedal takes a fair bit of movement before they work and i can not afford that.
Thanks
