Default New wheels and old bearings?

I have a MY00 UK car with the standard 16" wheels still on so I'm looking at different options as the tyres are nearly gone. One of these is fitting some 17" wheels.

My question is will these put extra stress on the bearings and cause them to fail?

It was a common problem on my old car, a Clio. On my clubs forums people were always asking about a noise coming from the front of the car not long after fitting new rims. I don't fancy becoming as adept at taking hubs off subarus as I was on clios just yet.

Thanks

As long as you get the right offset on the wheels, you'll have no issues......

Next question...

Would 7.5" x 17" wheels with an offset of ET45 be the right ones and also would these cause any scrubbing?

Offset is not optimal for a 7.5" wide wheel. You should be looking for 50-53mm offset. 435mm brings it too close to the outside wheelarch.
