Default Noisy Brakes

Folks,
I have recently bought a 2002 STi Prodrive and was wondering about the brakes.

This is the first ABS I have had and I was wondering about a grumbling noise from the brakes when braking at a slow speed. Firstly I was told it is normal, however I suspect it is the wear warning but the pads still look like they have about 3mm left?

Any advice?

Rgds,
Mike

noisy brakes can be either nothing or something, only way to tell if its something is to strip them down clean em out and check for any warn damaged parts etc, but 3mm left on the pad much so tbh i think its new pads time.
