DIY - Fitting Gold Brembo's to Classic (Front & Rear)
Here's all you need to know.......
Fronts :
Dead easy, bolt straight up using the STi 326mm disk, and Brembo Caliper bolts (Subaru 2-pot & 4-pot bolts are the wrong thread)
Brembo Caliper thread is M12 x 1.5 (standard M12 is M12 x 1.75, Subaru caliper is M12 x 1.25).
Bolts are £4.50 each from Subaru, or alot cheaper here NAMRICK :
Rears :
Using STi 316mm rear disk

Using WRX 01> 290mm rear disk

These gold Brembo's you say, what are they?
Im looking at popping on 4-pots on the front of my95 jdm along with the discs.
Could I use 4-pots from a newer model scoob, say a 97 STi and its just a straight swap. old discs and calipers off.
New larger discs and calipers on with the brembo bolts.
DO I have to change my brake lines or brake fluid?
Thanks

Gold Brembo's are off the MY01> STi 7,8,9 etc...
These fit straight onto the Front of a Classic or later WRX if the appropriate Caliper bolts and disks are used. The rear are a different matter though and require a bit of 'fabrication'.
4-Pots Fronts from a 99/00 UK/WRX/STi or 01> WRX will also fit straight on to the earlier cars, if the appropriate disks are used.
You won't need new brake lines, but you will need to do a fluid bleed. So an oppurtunity to change the fluid could be taken.

Hi scott do you have an actual fitting guide or know where one is?
the main things i dont know are such as fitting the brake pipe line, how tight and if the wrx pipe fits on to the brembo calipers
Cheers Justin

As for tightness : well tight enough not to leak which is a good yank on your average 12mm spanner but don't swing on it so hard that you strip the thread on the caliper (which is alluminium)

Thanks for the info, i just careful now, when i installed my oil temp and pressure fittings i sheared the end clean off! and had to buy all the hoses again

the rears will clear no issue, however its a common issue with the oversize front caliper to have clearance issues with a number of make wheels
18" Compomotives or Speedline Turini's are two that definately fit

The below is a quote from scott t, , i have a newage 2004 wrx and i cant still find a definitive answer as to whether i need an adapter to fit the rear brembos onto my car, it currently has subaru 2 pots on the back, if they do fit is this with the original disc or the brembo one. HELP im pulling my hair out with this!!!
They will not clear 17" Prodrive P1 alloys. Infact they don't clear the 18" P1 alloys either (I've tried).
Prodrive used a ET46 offset for the P1 style to clear the Brembo's. You will probably find that yours are ET53, as were the 18's if they were not specifically sourced for an STi.
You will need the Brembo mounting bolts due to a different thread being used. I think they are M12 x 1.5 pitch.
Standard M12 is a 1.75 pitch and I think the 4-pot calipers use a 1.25 pitch.
The rears will fit on the Bracket, if you currently have 2-pot rear calipers. The disk will fit but the handbrake will not work.
The STi rear disk uses a 190mm drum for the handbrake, where the WRX uses a 170mm drum. The easiest way round this would be to press a steel or ally sleeve into the STi drum to reduce the size down to 170mm. This is pretty safe and has been done before. It's only used as a parking brake after all......

So the fronts fit no worries? Awesome im guessing the dics us ethe same PCD too?? Ive got a set of 18" OZ superleggera's will i have clearance issues, there seems to be a reasonable gap inbetween edge of caliper and rim?

The backs fit no worries!!! kept original disc.
When braking hard now though the car feels to brake at the front and tilt forward quite heavily!! hope ive bled the rears correctly

Hi mate...
Fitting Brembo's to my classic and wanted to know if the STi 326mm disk is the disk that comes with the gold brembos off the newage? or will the disks off my 98 classic fit?
Only I'm looking to buy a set and they come with disks? But will they fit a classic?
BTW getting them from Jap Performance for £525 is this good?
P.S. Are they a lot better than the std Scooby 4 pots?
Thanks.

326mm is the correct disk size for the Brembo's and are required when fitting the Gold Brembo Calipers. The calipers will be offset to far to use the 294mm MY00 disks.
£525 isn't bad, but not good either. The advantage if your collecting from JP is you can view them first.
I paid £600 for an As New set, front and rear, of a car being Group 'N'd.
Bite is alot better, and most that have fitted them will confirm this....

Gentlemen.... ( Scott, James ) I'm getting there quietly here
Dry fit on a spare hub
Just need to get the enlarged handbrake shoes organised and I'm not far off.
Bet you thought I had given up my mate made the brackets in work for me on the QT but to many eyes about the place for a fast job.... they are made from steel and I've given them a coat of black hammerite since the dry fit.
