Question brake pads 6 months ago so whats wrong?

i felt like i had been on a spin cycle in the washing machine by the time i got home

Sounds like the disks to me too.
Being AWD shouldn't they all need replacing at the same time anyway?

Don't see why you should have to get all the disks done together - certainly in pairs but not all four - does sound very much like warped disks though, had the same problem with mine, car felt like it was going to shake itself to pieces when braking hard.

One tip I was given, dont keep you foot on the brake when you're not moving especially after braking hard, it can cause uneven cooling which will warp them, use the handbrake.

It sounds like the disks to me too. I might still have a set from a sport if you need a set cheap.

surely if u take ur wheel off u can see if they are warped by looking at them.

then u can change them!! i changed all four at same time but that cos they all needed replacing some dodgey previous owner, but i would say pairs are gd to do too

This could be a good time for you to upgrade to 2 pots from a UK They are so much better than the single pots that the sport has and the disks are 20mm bigger in diameter They bolt straight on too and you can pick a set up including calipers the lot for about £50 where someone has upgraded to 4 pots

They may not be warped. you get a build up of the brake pad material on the disc which means the surface is uneven hence the judder.

would of thought the material would of had to of been there a while for it to surface in such a violent manner

the juddering started all of a sudden, it was so bad yesterday that all my bits wobbled up and down

its not so bad today so i assume it was because i was driving round london and the brakes were hot

Warping does get worse with heat. You shouldn't notice it much when it's cold but once it's hot it will get worse and worse

If these are Red Stuff Pads it will be those causing the problem and not the disks.

I have some two pots, discs and pads all taken off WRX. Car had done 30,000 miles, discs about 5-10,000 miles. they came off when I upgraded. Also 16" alloys and 205/50/16 Yokos.

If you are interested, let me know.

North London
