Pads to avoid brake squeel?
I'm currently running Ferodo DS2500 pads (front and rear) on Std brake discs (2002 Sti Type UK) and am suffering from APPALLING brake squeel which I think is down to the majority of my journeys been short so the pads are never warming up properly.
I'm currently looking at some DBA discs which I've been led to believe should sort the issue, however I'm thinking that the front pads (where the problem seems to be) have been on the car for 15 months so it would probably be cheaper to just change these but am a bit confused as to what to swap them for.
I've read a couple of threads on here recently about Red Stuff pads and the verdict seems to be more negative than positive...and also the thread where people have had Red Stuff pads and had brake squeel and then swapped them to DS2500 and the problem went away!!
So what a) has good stopping power and b) won't squeel like an upset pig on the journeys I make? Thoughts welcomed....

All shimmed and copper slipped up a few times as well.
Not fussed as they are excellent stoppers.

DS2500 don't have a reputation as squealy brakes.
Any pad, particularly a "fast road" type pad can squeal because they're glazed. Lots of short journeys could cause this.
To deglaze them you need a "private road". Give it the beans, check the mirror and brake as hard as you feel safe doing. Do that a couple of times. The hard use may cut through the glaze giving you a new unglazed surface which should sqeal less.
A cheap solution so worth a try.
