Toyo T1R vs Yokohama Parada Spec 2... Opinions please
As above chaps, im going to be getting some new wheels very shortly and have the following tires to choose from.
I dont know alot about either TBH, although i do know how much i love the Bridgestone RE070's with their super stiff sides. My other thoughts was to buy some Vredestein Ultra Cs.
But seeing as the package is available with the above tires i thought id do some asking. So please what are your thoughts on the above tires and what sort of driving do you do :ie, road, track, sprints etc
Cheers

i've just got rid of my toyo T1-s's and got a set of goodyear eagle f1's - first impressions are they are a much better tyre with a good, reinforced side wall, i'm waiting a few days to scrub them in befre really pusing them
I've also had a set of verdesteins before - they were pretty good too

Just had a set of Paradas spec 2 fitted (£58 each plus fitting ).
First impressions are good, fairly quiet interms of road noise. And bloody grippy in the dry. Plenty of squeel before they even hint at letting go. In fact I've struggled to lose any form of traction or grip so far without intentionally doing something stupid (obviously not trying hard enough ).
Softish sidewall seems to give quite a jiggle-free ride. Steering feedback is still as numb as ever, but nothing any different than you'd expect from an old scoob (classic scoob PAS ).
Quite a sticky coumpound: I took half the gravel from the works car park with me back home - wheel arches may need undersealing again now
Not tried them in the wet or damp yet - that is thr true acid test for any tyre imo (seeing this country is always wet/damp for 90% of the year), as all Yokos I used previously have been diabolical in the damp, I hope they exceed my expectations, but they are a dirt cheap tyre, so I'm not holding much hope.
Trean pattern looks eveil too
I don't expect them to last long either

Had a bit of whizz round in the wet to day, certainly not as bad as other Yokos I've previously experienced.

i have been running parada spec2`s on the front of mine for a while now (i rekon i can make the old bridgestones on the rear last until winter and then i can fit my winter wheels )
and they seam pretty good, they seam to be lasting quite well, but i am running them at 34psi and i normally scrub away both inner and outer shoulders
wet weather can be good, but greasy wet weather can turn the tables!

Parada spec 2 as trackday/sprint tyre?
Anyone know how the Parada spec 2 would be as trackday/sprint tyre? I'm interested in the fact that they do an unusual 205/40-16, which would lower the car by 1" (and weigh less) on my forged trackday wheels. I could go lower on the coilovers, but that would start to compromise the geometry. Wet performance not an issue, as I use my 17" road wheels if it rains.

Hi there !
I disagree a lot with some things that have been said here.
1) The Goodyear Eagle F1's GSD3 have a bloody soft sidewall ! I've tried them at the Ring and the wall was getting worned out !!! And of course they overheat in such conditions...It's a really great tyre in the wet and quite nice in the dry. However they wear out in no time. 20.000 km and 3 laps of the Ring in my case.
2) The Yokohama Parada Spec2 : this is another world! The sidewalls are very strong, they'll give you some pain in the *** to mount on the wheels ! The pattern looks like a semi-slick, and it feels like it too ! Awesome grip in the dry, stays greatly under control when approaching the grip limits by telling you far in advance.... and easily recoverable once those limits are past! In the wet it'll grip OK, but no way as much as the F1's. Very very slippery in the wet when approaching their end of life. I've done 22 laps of the Ring with the same set of Parada's + 25.000 km of roads...
and they still have some life in them! I'm pretty sure these are amongst the very best summer tyres available, just below the real semi-slicks (Yoko A048R, A032, Toyo888, etc)
However, how in the world did you manage to get the parada's at 58 quid ??? I paid £105 each and that was -40% off the public price... size 215/40R17 though.
And I paid the F1's £80 each in 205/50R16
Hope this helps !

As for the GSD1's...they need lots more air pressure in them than stock when driven hard. Otherwise the sidewalls split from being overloaded/underinflated for the conditions (often noted on here).

have got to say that the RE070 were awesome at the ring.... grip, more grip and then some.
done 12,500 miles on a set so far and that includes a trackday of 60 laps at snetterton and 13 laps of the ring at quite quick speeds and still a few mill left in them.
will definitely be getting them again now.... love em

I'm on my second set of T1R's now and find them excellent. The only moan wood be driver side front wearing quickly on the shoulder but that was after a year. Dry weather handling to me is on rails. Wet weather handling to me is...... is it raining? No really is it actually wet? don't notice hardly any difference.
