Goodyear Eagle F1 "Made in China"
Bought 4 x Goodyear Eagle F1 about a month ago, all made in Germany Got a screw through one of them yesterday and today had to stump up for another new tyre.
This one is made in China but costs the same as the previous ones.
Are the Made in China tyres identical to the ones Made in Germany? I guess they are technically the same to meet a minimum standard, but wear rates might differ ? Presumably the manufacture has been shifted to the Far East to reduce costs, in which case why isn't that saving passed on to the consumer
Anyone got any background / further info ?

Just come back from a week in China (business) and the lower costs from the far east are rarly passed on.
I doubt that a company like Goodyear would make a bad tyre in China; to scared about litigation.
Get used to it as you just cannot believe the economic growth in China.

I bought 4 GSD3's from an internet reseller - about £80 each when they arrived I clocked that they were made in China so I sent an email to Goodyear to check they were of the same spec & standard as EU. here's their reply:
Thank you for your "e" mail.
This confirms the tyres ex China are made to the same specification under
the Goodyear banner as tyres made in UK/mainland Europe.Part of
the marking below, "E13", is a British standards mark which shows that
the tyre is produced to British standards. For your information you also
have a recently produced tyre, the marking "0806" shows that the tyre was
produced in the 8th week of this year (2006).
Hope this puts your mind at rest. I've done about 3000 hard miles (trip to Southern France & Route Napoleon) & they've been brilliant.
Cheers

I am pleased the tyres are up to standard.
£80 is a great price for F1's could you give us the company you bought them off, as the cheapest i can find them is £105 (fitted though).
Thanks in advance
